Step 9: Once the eggs are colored, let the dye dry completely before applying the shiny accents.

NOTE: The longer the eggs are left in the dye baths the brighter and darker the color will be. This will also allow more dye to permeate the shell and color the white of the egg. The eggs are still edible even thought they have coloring on them.

Step 10: Once the egg is completely dry, apply a small amount of accent glue on the egg.

Step 11: Spread the glue around with the tip of your finger and allow the glue to dry slightly.

NOTE: The glue needs to be very sticky. Do not rush this portion of the project. The shiny accent will not stick unless the glue is very tacky. Use the glue sparingly to get a better result with the shiny accents.

Step 14: Rip the shiny accent sheet away from the egg to leave small pieces behind.

NOTE: Really pull the sheet away from the egg to make the project work. If the glue is not sticky enough then the shiny accent will not stick to the egg.

Step 15: Repeat the process until the entire egg is covered with shiny accents.

NOTE: You can use two different accent colors on the same egg to achieve a unique look to the eggs.

This product was very messy, but the eggs looked terrific. After learning the proper technique of ripping the shiny accent away from the egg and allowing the glue to become sticky the end product was very similar to what was shown on the package.

Tip 1: Don’t apply too much glue to the eggs. Allow time enough for the glue to become sticky.

Tip 2: Wash the eggs before pealing them. This prevents the transfer of the color and accents on to the edible egg.

Tip 3: Have another activity to do while the glue is drying. This activity did not hold the attention span of the children because of the down time during the process.

PROS of the Easter Unlimited™ Bright & Shiny Egg Decorating Kit

Overall the outcome of this kit was what the company portrayed on the package. The bright and shiny accents made very unique eggs and were eye catching.

CONS of the  Easter Unlimited™ Bright & Shiny Egg Decorating Kit

The biggest problem was the amount of time it took between stages in the process. Children want things to stay active and go quickly. This is a good lesson in patients and “good things come to those who wait.” The project was also quite messy. You may want to consider wearing plastic gloves to avoid some of the mess, but it is not necessary since all of the dye and glue come off easily with soap and water.

This product DOES NOT WORK. It wiped all of the color off of my egg and only a little bit of paper came off.

I had a lot of difficulty with the first few eggs I tried. The foil paper would not stick and as you mentioned and a lot of the color kept coming off with the glue. I found out that as I applied less glue and let it get really sticky as indicated on the box then the product worked pretty well. It was so messy that we only did about 6 eggs, but the product would have covered about 12 if we used all the foil accent paper. Applying a second color for the foil accent worked really well. The glue was really sticky by that time and the second color stuck better to the foil that was already on the egg. I am sorry you had less success with this kit. Have you tried any of the other ones?
