How to Make Strawberry Pie

How to Make Strawberry Pie

Each season brings different flavors and the start of the summer is no different. Great produce choices abound at the local supermarkets with a wide variety of fruit at great prices. One fruit you are likely to see great prices on this year are strawberries. There are so many things to do with this great fruit such as making preserves, eating them fresh, adding them to salads, or making strawberry pie. This simple, yet delicious, desert will please even the toughest customers.

What You Will Need

2 quarts fresh strawberries
1 package ready-to-use strawberry pie glaze
1 homemade pie crust (pre baked and cooled)

How to make Strawberry Pie Filling

Step 1: Begin by cleaning the strawberries: rinse using cold water, then remove the stems and slice in quarters.

Step 2: Place prepared strawberries in a large container with a lid.

Step 3: Cover the strawberries with the pie glaze (1) by carefully opening the package by squeezing the glaze down with your thumb and fingers(2) and then cutting the top of the package off with scissors(3). Stir to coat all berries.

Step 4: Refrigerate strawberries in a closed container until you are ready to fill the pie crust.

How to make the Baked Pie Shell

Step 1: Follow the homemade pie crust recipe stopping at Step 19.

Step 2: Do not fill the pie crust, rather, make a fluted edge and then prick the bottom and sides of the crust with a fork as shown. This will prevent the pie crust from puffing up while it is baking.

Step 3: Bake the shell for 12-14 minutes at 425 degrees (keep in mind oven temps may vary so you watch your shell to make sure you do not over bake).

Step 4: Carefully remove the shell from the oven and allow to cool completely before filling.

Step 5: Fill the pie shell with the glazed strawberries. Cover pie and keep chilled until ready to serve.

Step 6: Serve with CoolWhip or whipped topping. Enjoy!
